(JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP) – Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate a one vehicle crash that claimed the life of a passenger.
Troopers from the Niles Post were called out at 11 PM Thursday to a one vehicle accident in Cass County’s Jefferson Township. They determined the driver of the car, a 20 year old Edwardsburg man, was traveling south on Dailey Road and lost control. The vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.
The passenger, 19 year old Tabor Lock of Niles, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Both men were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash. It appears alcohol and speed were both factors in the accident.
Assisting at the scene were the Edwardsburg Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
