(STURGIS) – The City of Sturgis will have a new Mayor in 2024.
The Commission held their annual organizational meeting Monday night and nominated Frank Perez and Jeff Mullins as the candidates to serve as Mayor.
Prior to the vote of the Commission, Mullins, who has served two terms as Mayor, commented that he never solicited his fellow Commissioners to nominate him for Mayor. He then made the following comments. LINKC.
The Commission was then asked for vote and they elected Perez to serve as Mayor by a 6-3 vote.
In the race for Vice Mayor, Aaron Miller and Rick Bir were nominated and Miller was elected 5-4 to serve a second term in the position.
Following the meeting, Swick Broadcasting asked Perez what he thought were some of the big issues facing Sturgis in 2024. LINKD.
Mullins issued some comments Tuesday morning, congratulating Perez on his appointment as Mayor, and Miller for being re-appointed as Vice Mayor. Mullins says there are challenges ahead for the City and he looks forward to working with his fellow Commissioners to tackle those challenges and serve the constituents well.
