(LANSING) – Unemployment rates around Southern Michigan were mixed for the month of October. .
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says that St. Joseph County saw their unemployment rate go up from 4.2% in September to 4.6% in October.
Cass County had a slight decrease, dropping from 4.5% in September to 4.3% in October.
Both Branch and Hillsdale Counties remained unchanged from September to October. Branch County stayed at 3.8% and Hillsdale County at 4.3%
Statewide, the unemployment rate in Michigan increased from 3.9% in September to 4.2% in October.
Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director of the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says the State’s regional unemployment rates generally exhibited minor declines, despite auto-related layoffs in October.
