(MENDON) – It was a close contest all night long, and in the end host Mendon beat Colon 56-50 in the season opener for both teams in an SCAA boys basketball contest. Owen Gorham led the Hornets with 18 points on the night. Ryder Gorham added 13 points and Jack McCaw had 10 points in the win. Dalton Williams led Colon and all scorers with a game high 22 points along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.. Dom Mock added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Maverick Downs had 7 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 8 steals. Colon is 0-1. Mendon is 1-0 and will face Union City Saturday at Little Caesar’s Arena.
