(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – A multi-state vehicle chase came to an end in Cass County.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was notified of a vehicle pursuit at 2:30 Pm Friday. A male suspect stole a Mishawaka Police Department vehicle and fled into Michigan. In addition to the Mishawaka Police, the South Bend Police and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department were involved in the chase.
The vehicle entered Cass County and was involved in a crash with another vehicle near the intersection of M-60 and Yankee Street in Howard Township. The driver of the other vehicle, Catherine Townsend of Vicksburg, was not injured in the incident.
The suspect was taken into custody. It’s believed alcohol was a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
