(QUINCY) – A man who was a coach for the Quincy School District is charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct.
Branch County District Court personnel say 56 year old Scott Signor of Quincy has been arraigned on three counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct. The arrest stems from alleged crimes that happened between 2017 and 2020.
Authorities say the alleged female victim was between 16 and 19 when the assaults happened.
Court officials say in 2020 the Quincy Police Department began an investigation, but it was dropped when the girl became uncooperative after she said Signor threatened to commit suicide.
The most recent investigation started in September 2023 and was conducted by the Michigan State Police.
Signor was not a staff member for Quincy Community Schools while he was coaching and when the alleged crimes were committed.
Quincy Schools announced on their Facebook page Thursday that a coach had been terminated without announcing Signor’s name.
Signor entered not guilty pleas and bond was set at $100,000. Court officials say if he is able to post bond, Signor is not to have any contact with the alleged victim. He will not be allowed to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 and he is not to be on any school property.
A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for Signor for February 15 and a preliminary examination for February 22.
