(QUINCY) – A Quincy man has been arrested on multiple charges following an investigation.
Branch County District Court officials say 41 year old Shawn Benton is charged with four counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of second degree criminal sexual conduct and a charge of accosting children for immoral purposes.
It’s alleged that the crimes happened between 2015 and 2023 with two females who were born in 2008 and 2009. Michigan State Police conducted the investigation and says the girls were about seven or eight years old when the alleged assaults started.
During an interview with Michigan State Police, Benton denied the allegations.
Not guilty pleas were entered on Benton’s behalf during his arraignment. Bond was set at $100,000. The Court says if Benton is able to post bond, he is not to have any contact with the alleged victims and no unsupervised contact with any minor child, and he can not leave the State of Michigan.
Benton is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on February 15 and a preliminary examination on February 20.
