(BRONSON) – The City of Bronson is moving forward with applying for grants to help with a non motorized trail project.
During a special meeting Monday, the Bronson City Council held a public hearing to get input on the project and the grant process. Just one member of the community showed up and did not offer any comments.
The project would include the construction of a new non-motorized paved trail along the former Northeastern Rail Line that runs through the northern portion of Bronson from Albers Road to Cronkhite Vault Services, Inc. on Industrial Avenue.
The cost of the project would be just over $775,000. Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman shares that Bronson would apply for two grants to help with the cost of the project. LINKC.
Mersman says if Bronson gets the grants, work would begin on the project in 2025.
The City Council voted 3-0 to apply for the grants and see if they receive them before they move forward with the project. Mersman says they should find out in the fall if they are receiving the grants.
