(LANSING) – Jobless rates saw a slight increase across Southern Michigan from January to February. .
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget says St. Joseph County’s jobless rate went up from 4.1% in January to 4.2% in February. That’s an increase of one-tenth of a percent.
That tied Hillsdale County for the lowest increase over the month. Hillsdale County’s jobless rate increased from 4.3% to 4.4%.
Branch County and Cass County both saw increases in their February jobless rates of two-tenths of a percent. Branch County went from 3.6% to 3.8%, while Cass County jumped from 4.3% and 4.5%.
Statewide, the unemployment rate went up two-tenths of a percent, from 4% to 4.2%.
Wayne Rourke, the Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says Michigan’s regional labor markets displayed jobless rate increases that are typical for February.
