(COLDWATER) – A two vehicle crash injured four Coldwater teens Sunday night.
Coldwater Deputy Police Chief Patrick Beeman says the two vehicles were heading west on U.S. 12 at 9:55 PM Sunday. The four youngsters between the ages of 16 and 17 years old, were in a red Honda Accord. Following them was a Ford Escape, driven by an 18 year old Coldwater man.
According to witness statements, the vehicles were approaching Northshore Drive when the Honda attempted to make a U-turn and was struck by the Ford. The Honda then struck a utility pole.
Beeman says a rear seat passenger in the Honda was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and is listed in stable condition. The other three occupants were taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital, where they were treated and released.
The driver of the Ford refused to be treated at the scene.
Beeman says the roads were wet due to a light rain at the time of the crash, and the area was lit up from the streetlights.
Michigan State Police along with the Coldwater Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance all assisted at the scene, along with the Coldwater Board Of Public Utilities.
The crash remains under investigation. If anyone witnessed the incident, they are asked to contact Sergeant Sara Gunnerman by calling 517-278-4525.
