(LANSING) - Michigan’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained at 3.9 percent for the third consecutive month during April.
According to information released by the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics, employment and unemployment in the state both rose over the month, resulting in a workforce increase of 4,000 since March.
The April statewide labor force participation rate remained constant at 62.3 percent over the month. Michigan’s employment population ratio was also stable, staying at 59.9 percent since March.
The largest growth for the month was in Construction, which went up 2.1% from March to April. Professional and Business Services went up six-tenths of a percent. Trade, Transportation and Utilities along with Retail Trade both increased three-tenths of a percent over the month.
Wayne Rourke, the Labor Market Information Director for Michigan’s Center For Data And Analytics says Michigan’s jobless rate demonstrated little fluctuation during the first four months of 2024, staying at or below 4 percent.
