(STURGIS) – A Sturgis business is celebrating 50 years of ownership by the same family.
Sportsarama has been owned by the Stewart family since 1974, and celebrated with an open house on Saturday at their new location, 209 West Hatch Street. Gary Stewart, who purchased the business from Fred Loetz and Gerry Darby, explains what the business was like when he took over. LINKC.
Over the years, Sportsarama has moved away from retail sales and moved more into screen printing and items for area high schools, along with the University of Michigan, with which they have a long time relationship.
Gary’s son Chad Stewart has taken over ownership of Sportsarama and says the change over from retail sales has been a good move. LINKD.
A third generation of Stewart's are now involved in Sportsarama. Chad’s sons Chance, Tristen and Brecken are all a part of the family business.
