NE Indiana Unemployment Down From March To April

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Unemployment rates went down from March to April around Northeast Indiana.

According to information released by the Department Of Workforce Development, LaGrange County saw their unemployment go down from 3.5 percent to 2.9 percent, which is a drop of six-tenths of a percent.

The biggest drop in the area was DeKalb County, which went down from 3.6 percent to 2.9 percent, a decrease of seven-tenths of a percent.

Noble County and Elkhart County both saw their unemployment rates go down six-tenths of a percent. Noble County decreased from 4.1 percent to 3.5 percent, while Elkhart County dropped from 4.4 percent to 3.8 percent.

Steuben County had a drop in their unemployment rate from 3.4 percent to 2.9 percent, which is a decrease of five-tenths of a percent.

The City of Elkhart also saw their unemployment drop from March to April, going from 5.8 percent to 5.1 percent. That’s a decrease of seven-tenths of a percent. The City of Goshen watched their unemployment go down six-tenths of a percent, from 4.1 to 3.5 percent.

Overall, the statewide unemployment in Indiana went up from 3.5 percent in March to 3.6 percent in April. That’s still better than the nationwide unemployment rate for April, which was 3.9 percent.
