(UNION CITY) – Three pets were killed in a weekend house fire.
In a posting on the Village of Union City’s Facebook page, the Union City Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 8:49 PM Saturday in the 300 block of Ellen Street.
The Burlington, Tekonsha, Sherwood and Athens Fire Departments were called in to provide assistance in battling the blaze, which was eventually put out.
A Union City firefighter was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for evaluation after fighting the fire. Posts say he is home and resting.
No residents were injured.
Also assisting at the scene was the Union City Police Department, Life Care Ambulance, the Union City Department of Public Works, Union City Electric, and the Branch County Victim’s Service Unit.
The Union City Police and Fire Departments are still investigating what caused the fire.
