(COLDWATER) – A plea agreement has been reached for a former Quincy High School coach.
Branch County Circuit Court personnel say 57 year old Scott Signor has plead no contest to a charge of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct. In exchange, the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office agreed to dismiss four counts of criminal sexual conduct along with a count of four degree criminal sexual conduct.
Signor was arrested in February following an investigation by the Michigan State Police for alleged crimes that happened between 2017 and 2020. The alleged female victim was between 16 and 19 when the assaults happened.
Court personnel says the Quincy Police Department started an investigation in 2020. That ended when officers say the alleged victim became uncooperative at the time after Signor threatened to take his own life.
Signor retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections and then became a coach for the Quincy Community Schools. He was fired after the alleged incidents came to light.
Signor is scheduled to be sentenced on July 29. He could face up to five years in prison.
