(MENDON) – The Mendon softball team won a second straight Division 4 Regional Championship on their home diamond, beating Martin 13-2 in the semi-finals, and then beating county and conference rival Burr Oak 7-6 in the Regional Finals. Burr Oak got to the Finals by beating Decatur 2-1. In the Title game, Burr Oak took an early lead, until Mendon stormed back to take a lead. The Lady Bobcats would get a close as 7-6 but couldn’t come back to get the win. Braylyn Hernandez hit a three run homer late in the game for Burr Oak but they couldn’t get any closer. Rowan Allen struck out 10 betters for the Lady Hornets while Brooklynn Root had 11 strikeouts. Ally Butler had an inside the park homer for Mendon. Burr Oak ends their season at 26-7. Mendon is now 37-4 and will face Dansville in a Division 4 Quarterfinal game Tuesday at Jackson College.
