(CENTREVILLE) - Glen Oaks Community College is pleased to announce the hiring of Olivia Holmes as head softball coach. Holmes fills a vacancy left by Matt Weiderman, who stepped down at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season. Glen Oaks Athletic Director Joel Mishler says they are excited to bring Olivia on staff as the next head Softball coach. Mishler says they believe Holmes is a great fit for Glen Oaks, and they are confident she will continue building the program as she brings in and develops high-caliber softball players, students, leaders and most importantly, people. Holmes is a graduate of Vicksburg High School and was a multiple sport athlete. She continued her softball career at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Alma College. Holmes served as an assistant varsity girls basketball coach at Vicksburg (2016-17), the co-head coach of the varsity softball team at Galesburg-Augusta (2018-2020), the junior varsity softball head coach at Paw Paw (2021), the head varsity softball coach at Paw Paw (2022) and the varsity softball assistant coach at Vicksburg (2023). Holmes says she is really excited to develop a new culture and climate that focuses on empowering women to become empowering leaders. She says she feels truly honored to be chosen for this role and can’t wait for this upcoming season.
