(UNDATED) – It’s been a busy July for Centreville graduate Jared Spencer. First he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 14th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Then over the weekend, Spencer entered the transfer portal and announced Tuesday via social media that he is leaving Indiana State and joining the University of Texas baseball team for the 2025 season. Spencer, at 6 foot 3 and 195 pounds, topped 97 mph on his fastball a year ago and also boasts an effective slider. He made nine starts and had a 6-0 record in 18 appearances for the Sycamores last season while recording a 4.08 ERA in 53 innings of work with 72 strikeouts and 33 walks and an opponents’ batting average of .216. He finished the 2024 season with wins over Michigan State, Southern Miss, Xavier, Purdue, UIC, and Valparaiso, while adding saves against Louisville and Missouri State.
