(ELKHART) – The driver of a motorcycle is dead following a crash Tuesday morning.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened around 5:30 AM on County Road 17 at State Road 120. An SUV was driving south on County Road 17 in the left turn lane. The driver, a 29 year old Elkhart woman, failed to yield the right of way to a northbound motorcycle and struck it head on.
The driver of the motorcycle, 61 year old Joseph Klein of Wakarusa, was taken to an area hospital and later died from his injuries.
The driver of the SUV was not injured. She was given a citation for failing to yield the right of way and for not having insurance.
The crash is still under investigation.
