(CENTREVILLE) – A woman who is charged in the death of her two year old daughter has waived her preliminary hearing.
St. Joseph County District Court officials say 21 year old Paige Bohne waived her hearing and the case will now be bound over to St. Joseph County Circuit Court.
Bohne is charged with open murder in the death of her daughter. She was originally charged with involuntary manslaughter, but the charge was amended when she was arraigned November 8.
On November 7 at 12:47 PM, St. Joseph County Sheriff’s deputies and medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park at 25039 U.S. 12 west of Sturgis for an unresponsive two year old inside a residence. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the child was pronounced dead. Due to the circumstances surrounding the death of the child, the St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated.
As the investigation into the child’s death progressed, investigators took Bohne into custody.
No date has been set for Bohne’s appearance in Circuit Court. She is being held without bond in the St. Joseph County Jail. The matter is still under investigation.
