(CENTREVILLE) – St. Joseph County has a budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026.
Tuesday night, the St. Joseph County Commission was presented with the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. They approved the budget by a vote of 6-1 with newly appointed Commissioner Christina Yunker casting the lone No vote. She explains why she voted against the budget. LINKC.
Finance Director Angie Steinman presented the budget for Commission approval. The total budget amount is $51.8 million. The General Fund budget totals $22.6 million, and requires a tax levy of 4.5162 mills. That is the maximum allowable under the application of the Headlee Rollback.
Steinman says the revenues projected for the 2025-2026 budget are the result of ongoing analysis of the current revenues the County receives, the history of those revenues, the current state of the economy, policy changes at other levels of government and numerous other influences.
