(LANSING) – Unemployment rates saw slight increases around Southern Michigan from October to November.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says St. Joseph County was the only county that saw a drop in their unemployment, going from 4.7% in October to 4.6% in November.
Three counties had increases of one-tenth of a percent in unemployment over the month. Branch County watched their unemployment go up from 4.2% to 4.3%. Cass County increased from 4.6% to 4.7% and Hillsdale County went up from 4.9% to an even 5%.
Statewide the unemployment rate rose from 4.6% to 4.8%.
Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center For Data And Analytics, says Michigan’s regional unemployment rate gains were primarily due to workforce advances across most labor markets from October to November.
The lowest unemployment rate in Michigan during November was Livingston County at 3.3%. That’s a slight increase from 3.2% in October. The highest unemployment rate was Oscoda County at 9.8%. That’s up from 7.9% in October.
