(ANGOLA) – A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit and run.
Angola Police Chief Kenneth Whitmire says on Friday at 9:13 PM, a vehicle traveling northwest on North Wayne Street near Culver’s struck and killed a pedestrian, 78 year old Terry Coffey Sr. of Hudson. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
Whitmire says his department and the Indiana State Police posted on social media, requesting public assistance regarding this incident.
On Sunday, just after 2 PM, Whitmire says his department received a tip, while at the same time, 39 year old Alisha Garza of Anderson, Indiana was turning herself into the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators from both departments interviewed Garza, leading to her full confession and arrest on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
