(STURGIS) – With the forecasted temperatures Sunday and Monday night being in the the single digits, a facility will be open to get people out of the cold.
Organizers say the Sturgis Emergency Extreme Weather Center will be activated Sunday from 6 PM until 8 AM Monday, and then from 6 PM Monday until 8 AM Tuesday.
The EEWC is located at 307 West Chicago Road in the lower level of the St. Joseph Community Co-op Building.
The EEWC is for overnight hours only and is open to assist people who have no place to go to get out of the below zero weather. There are places for people to relax, watch TV, play games, and do laundry, but not to sleep regularly.
After 8 AM each day, individuals would have to leave to go to the warming centers around Sturgis.
