
(ORCHARD LAKE) – Orchard Lake St. Mary’s senior Trey McKenney has received a special award. On Monday, McKenney was named the 2025 Michigan Mr. Basketball winner by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. He becomes the first Orchard Lake St. Mary’s player to win the award. The other finalists this year were Lance Stone of Detroit Renaissance; Macari Moore of Ann Arbor Huron and Leroy Blyden Jr. of Detroit U-D Jesuit. McKenney received 4,897 points, followed by Blyden (2,019 points), then Moore in third (1,975 points), and finally Stone (1,711 points). Through 20 games this season, the 6 foot 5 McKenney was averaging 23.8 points; 10.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals. McKenney has signed to play college basketball for the University of Michigan.
