(NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP) – A Sturgis woman is dead following a one vehicle crash.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Chad Spence says at 10:13 PM Wednesday, deputies observed a car traveling at a high rate of speed south on Nottawa Road in Nottawa Township.
Deputies attempted to catch the vehicle and while searching for it, they were sent to the area of Nottawa Road and Park Street for a single vehicle accident.
Deputies arrived and found the vehicle. The driver, a 19 year old Sturgis woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting deputies were the Centreville-Constantine Police, the Centreville Fire Department, and Michigan State Police.
The crash is still under investigation.
