(ANGOLA) - The Trine University Baseball team ended the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 10-1 loss to Ohio Northern University on Tuesday afternoon. Preston Henschen hit a solo homer to left center field in the seventh to provide the run for Trine. After a rocky first inning, Evan Shoppell settled in and allowed just one hit and struck out three over the next two innings to keep Trine within striking distance, trailing 3-0. A Polar Bear grand slam in the seventh gave the visitors a 7-0 lead. Cole Schmidthuber added a pair of doubles for the Thunder. Trine is now 6-11 and the Polar Bears improve to 14-5. Trine opens MIAA play this weekend with a single game at Hope on Friday before hosting the Dutch on Saturday in a doubleheader.
