(CENTREVILLE) – Southwest Michigan citizens had a chance recently to hear from their elected officials in Lansing.
The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce and the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Legislative Breakfast on April 11. State Representative Steve Carra and State Senator Jonathan Lindsey attended and were asked question by a moderator and from audience members.
One of the audience questions was asking for an update on the possible re-classification of the Prairie River. Lindsey says this is a matter he has been involved in since he was elected to to the Senate. LINKC.
Lindsey says he and his staff called the DNR and EGLE multiple times a day, along with bringing letters to the organizations in opposition to this. Citizens along with the Michigan Farm Bureau were also in this fight.
Lindsey says he was told that he was fighting an uphill battle. LINKD.
Lindsey says he isn’t sure where the DNR and EGLE are at in this process, but he would find out.
