Nottawa School Asking For Millage Renewal On Tuesday
Tuesday, August 5, 2025

(NOTTAWA) – Nottawa School is asking for a millage renewal on Tuesday.

This a millage renewal as Nottawa Schools is asking for 19.4666 mills. By law, Schools can only collect 18 mills. Due to the Headlee Rollback, schools don’t collect the 18 mills unless they have a millage in place to make up the difference. That way schools can get the full 18 mills even if property values fluctuate.

The millage does not apply for primary residences, only on non-homestead properties such as businesses, vacation homes, rental properties and vacant land.

The current operating millage pays for $600,000 of operational costs. If this is not renewed, then Nottawa School would lose that funding.

Funds from the millage renewal can be used for school operations, teachers, staff, children’s materials, supplies, facility maintenance and utilities.

Polls will be open Tuesday until 8 PM.
