Wednesday, October 8, 2025

(COLDWATER TOWNSHIP) – Information has been released on the apprehension of a wanted subject last week.

Branch County Sheriff Fred Blankenship says on October 3, deputies were sent to the 100 block of West Colon Road in Coldwater Township on a report of a man who was swinging a bat at a vehicle. When they arrived at the location, deputies were told that a woman involved in the incident gave a false name and then ran away from the property.

Sheriff’s Deputies, the Coldwater Police Department and the Michigan State Police started to search the area. The Sheriff’s Office used their drone and Coldwater K-9 Officer Murph was asked to assist in the search.

Blankenship says the drone located the woman hiding in a wooded area. Cassaundra Lee Kidder was taken into custody and is being held in the Branch County Jail on an outstanding warrant from LaGrange County for violation of probation and petition to revoke suspended sentence.

A second woman who was at the scene was arrested on an FTA warrant out of Van Buren County
