Michigan hockey team earns No. 3 seed in NCAA Tournament

(ANN ARBOR) - The University of Michigan ice hockey team (21-14-3) is a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament as announced Sunday on ESPNU during the NCAA Selection Show. Michigan will take on No. 2 seed North Dakota (26-11-2) in the St. Louis Regional at 8:30 PM Friday at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. No. 1 seed Michigan State and No. 4 seed Western Michigan will meet in the other regional semifinal. The regional's two semifinal winners will play on Sunday at 6:30 PM for a spot in the Frozen Four. Michigan earned one of 10 at-large bids in the program's 41st appearance in the NCAA tournament, the most by any program. The Wolverines boast a 57-32 record in the NCAA Tournament, including a record nine national championships.
