(LAGRANGE) - The LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation has been awarded a Site Readiness Grant.

The $10,000 grant is from Wabash Valley Power Alliance and LaGrange County REMC. The funds will support the creation of a residential Tax Increment Financing or TIF District tied to a new housing development in LaGrange County. The grant will support costs associated with establishing the TIF District for a 44-acre site on the east side of the Town of LaGrange.

LaGrange County EDC President and CEO Sherri Johnston says housing availability is consistently identified as one of the most pressing barriers to workforce attraction and retention in LaGrange County. She says this project represents meaningful progress towards addressing that challenge and WVPA's support is helping to move it forward.

The proposed development will transform a 44-acre site into 110 new homes, constructed over three phases. Rezoning for the project was approved in September 2025 and the developer, Master Build LLC, began site preparation last fall with home construction set to begin in this spring.

Mark Leu, LaGrange County REMC CEO and LaGrange County EDC Board Member, says this project reflects the kind of early, behind-the-scenes work required to turn housing plans into reality. Leu says LaGrange County EDC is doing the hard, proactive work to move housing projects from concept to construction and REMC is proud to support that effort.
