(STURGIS) - More Sturgis residents would be able to take advantage of the City's recycling option if their landlords agree to it.
Monday night, the Sturgis City Commission was presented with a resolution that would allow people who rent to be eligible if their landlords agree to subscribe to the service with Borden Waste Away. City Manager Andrew Kuk says this resolution was discussed at the November 12 meeting when the Commission approved an ordinance for curbside recycling for properties with two residential units which equates to between 4 and 24 dwelling units, at the option of the property owners.
Kuk says the ordinance would allow the residential properties in these two categories, who already receive recycling services, to continue receiving them if the titled property owner agrees. Kuk says it can't be the tenant or the renter who contacts the City. (LISTEN ABOVE)
The Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the resolution. It goes into effect on December 4, which is the same day as the recycling ordinance.
