(LAGRANGE) - A nonprofit organization is going to partner with LaGrange County to hopefully get funding to create a recovery house.
Last week, the LaGrange County Commission voted unanimously to work with Inspiration Ministries to apply for a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant being offered by the Office of Community and Rural Affairs. If they receive the grant, Inspiration Ministries wants to buy land and build a recovery house to help men in LaGrange County who want to get off of drugs and alcohol.
Andy Foster, President of Inspiration Ministries, says the program started 15 years ago in Butler in DeKalb County and in 2021 a house was built and opened in Kendallville in Noble County. Foster says they have a qualified staff and are credentialed to do recovery programs.
Foster says Inspiration Ministries can't apply for the grant without a governmental partner. If they receive the OCRA Grant, LaGrange County would be the recipients and Inspiration Ministries the sub-recipient. LaGrange County would receive the funding and pass it directly to Inspiration Ministries. (LISTEN ABOVE)
Foster says he feels confident about receiving the grant, based on what they do and their prior success in receiving grants.
