(UNION CITY) - A big fourth quarter helped the Mendon boys basketball team picked up a non conference road win over Union City 74-61. Mendon coach Matt Gorham says for the first game of the season, he felt like his team made the plays they needed to when they needed to make them. He says there is always room for improvement but the Hornets played a pretty clean game. Ryder Gorham led Mendon with 31 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Owen Gorham chipped in with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals while Dante Goto had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Micah Payne had a team high 22 points for Union City. Nolan Chard had 17 points and 6 rebounds.
