(COLDWATER) - A 21 year old Coldwater man died after being stabbed by a co-worker Monday.
Coldwater Director of Public Safety Joseph Scheid says police, fire and ambulance were dispatched to Clemens Food Group at 7:41 PM Monday in response to a stabling.
Scheid says 21-year-old Brandon Eduardo Velasquez Chavez died from his wounds. The suspect, a 20-year-old man, has been arrested, and is being held in the Branch County Jail. His identity is being withheld pending his arraignment in Branch County District Court.
The Branch County Sheriff's Office were the first to arrive on scene. Deputies detained the suspect, while medics from the Coldwater Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance tried to treat Chavez's injuries.
Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coldwater Police Officers interviewed several witnesses. They report that Chavez and the suspect got into a verbal argument while working near each other at the plant. When the argument was over, the suspect reportedly stabbed Chavez in the back.
