(WHITE PIGEON) - White Pigeon Schools Superintendent Shelly McBride commented following the defeat Tuesday of the Sinking Fund Replacement millage.
In a post on the White Pigeon School's Facebook page, McBride says while they are disappointed that the Sinking Fund Replacement did not pass, their focus now turns to November.
McBride says in the coming months, they will work to better educate the community about the Sinking Fund and highlight what the communities' support has allowed White Pigeon Schools to accomplish for their students and schools.
McBride says they are proud of the progress happening throughout the district, and incredibly grateful for the continued support of White Pigeon Community Schools. She says they look forward to continuing the conversation with the community and working together to continue investing in White Pigeon students and their future.
Voters in the White Pigeon School District defeated the Sinking Fund Replacement proposal with 632 No votes to 606 Yes votes. Voters in the St. Joseph County portion of the District approved the request 472 to 469, while voters in the Cass County part of the District defeated the motion with 163 No votes to 134 Yes votes.
