(CENTREVILLE) – North River Road was a topic of discussion during Wednesday’s St. Joseph County Road Commission meeting.
However, it wasn’t quite the discussion they were hoping to have.
Several individuals who live on North River Road attended the meeting to hear about the project, and possible funding options to see it get done. Lee Belding, an aide to U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg was supposed to be in attendance to talk about available options to fund the work.
Road Commissioner Jack Coleman, who invited many of the attendees, informed them that Belding would not be in attendance, contacting Coleman shortly before the meeting, saying that he would be attending a fund raising event.
Coleman apologized and told the audience why he invited Belding to the meeting and what they wanted to share with him. LINKC.
Road Commission Manager John Lindsey explains why River Road became so busy and what the project will consist of LINKD.
Lindsey says the reason they are looking for other funding sources for the project is, if they were to use the money the Road Commission receives, it would have to be done in sections and take several years to complete.
