(DEKALB COUNTY) – Two Coldwater residents were injured in a Northern Indiana accident.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says 46 year old Kirk Traver of Coldwater was driving north on I-69 near the 335 mile marker in the passing lane, at 1:22 PM Friday. Another vehicle attempted to merge into the passing lane while Traver was still there.
Traver merged into the median of the interstate to avoid a collision. He overcorrected in the gravel area, came back into the passing lane, lost control and overcorrected once again back into the median. Traver’s vehicle rolled into the median and came to rest on his roof, crashing into the cable barrier.
Traver had knee and head injuries. His passenger, 44 year old Barbara Gruner, had a head injury. Both were taken to an area hospital to be treated.
Assisting at the scene were the Waterloo Fire Department, the Indiana State Police and Parkview EMS.
