(DEFIANCE COUNTY) – Several people were sent to the hospital following a two vehicle crash in Defiance County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 43 year old Joseph Yates of Oakwood, Ohio was driving a truck south on The Bend Road at 5:30 PM Wednesday. Yates failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 424 and struck and eastbound SUV, driven by 59 year old Jefery Decamp of Hicksville, Ohio. Decamp’s vehicle went off the road and overturned.

Both Decamp and Yates were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. Two passengers in Decamp’s vehicle were flown from the scene to a Fort Wayne Hospital. One person was also ejected in the crash.

In addition, an infant in the Decamp vehicle was taken to the hospital. The child had been secured in a rear-facing child restraint seat.

The crash is still under investigation.
