(STURGIS) – The Sturgis City Commission has approved a revision to their general shut off rules to allow for the shut off of electricity during the heating season.
Wednesday night, Electric Department Supervisor Chris McArthur presented the revised rule to the Commissioners, which is related to Public Act 95 of 2013 that was discussed at a previous meeting. LINKC.
Sturgis City Manager Andrew Kuk says this change is due to a change in the State Law. LINKD.
The recommendation passed by a vote of 6-2, with Sturgis Mayor Frank Perez and Vice Mayor Rick Bir casting the No votes.
The new rule will take effect October 1.
