
(FABIUS TOWNSHIP) – A one vehicle crash claimed the life of a Sturgis woman.
St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman says just before 2:30 AM Tuesday, deputies were called to U.S. 131 and King Road in Fabius Township for an accident.  Deputies determined that a Sturgis woman was driving an SUV north on U.S. 131 and went off the west side of the road, striking a tree.  
The women was found dead inside the vehicle and was the only occupant.  Deputies say she was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Three Rivers Police Department, the Station 2 and Station 3 Fire Departments and St. Joseph County Victim’s Services.
The crash is still under investigation.
