
(CENTREVILLE) – A new, enhanced security program is in place at Glen Oaks Community College.
A new three year security contract between the School and the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office started on November 18. In the past, the Glen Oaks facilities committee doubled as the security team.
Glen Oaks President Dr. Bryan Newton says security on campus was one of the main issues he heard when he conducted his listening tour after taking office this summer. LINKC.
Newton says he met with officials from the Sheriff’s Office and hammered out a contract.
T.J. Baker will serve as the Campus Safety Director, overseeing security operations Monday through Friday. Baker says students, faculty, staff and the public will see more officers on campus. LINKD.
Baker’s responsibilities will include supervising part-time security personnel for evening and weekend coverage; testing and maintaining campus safety equipment; serving on the Glen Oaks’ emergency operations committee; and conducting safety training and emergency preparedness exercises.
