(VOLINIA TOWNSHIP) – A two vehicle crash injured one person in Cass County’s Volinia Township.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out at 2:15 PM Saturday for a crash at the intersection of Marcellus Highway and Lawrence Road.

Investigators say that 18 year old Kaden Smith of Osceola, Indiana was driving north on Lawrence Road and failed to stop at the intersection of Marcellus Highway. Smith entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound vehicle, driven by 35 year old Johnnie Kirby of Decatur.

Smith was taken by SMCAS Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Also assisting at the scene were the Wayne Township Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.
