Tuesday, August 5, 2025

(CENTREVILLE) – Dr. Bryan Newton will be representing the Midwest Region in advancing national agricultural education initiatives.

Newton, President of Glen Oaks Community College, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Community College Alliance For Agriculture Advancement (C2A3), where he will represent the Midwest Region. The group consists of ten rural serving colleges committed to agricultural excellence.

Newton joins the Board as part of Glen Oaks’ recent induction into C2A3, a USDA-affiliated consortium of rural-serving colleges working together to improve sustainable farming practices and prepare students for evolving careers in agriculture and natural resources.

Newton says he’s honored to represent the Midwest in this important national alliance. He says C2A3’s mission aligns perfectly with the goals at Glen Oaks: expanding opportunities for the students, empowering faculty, and innovating the field of agriculture through collaboration and applied learning.

As a board member, Newton will help guide the strategy and expansion of C2A3’s national initiatives, including its $9 million USDA Cooperative Agreement designed to enhance conservation practices and boost student engagement with USDA career pathways.

Through Newton’s appointment, Glen Oaks strengthens its leadership in agricultural education, not only as the only community college in Michigan with a campus farm and Agricultural Equipment Technology degree, but now also as a driving force in shaping agriculture’s future on the national stage.
