
(FREMONT) – The Sturgis girls basketball team went 1-1 at the Fremont Round Robin Tournament. The Lady Trojans lost to host Fremont 42-22 and then beat Jimtown 40-37. Coach Jeremy Bucklin says his team came out flat against Fremont, but played better in the second half. They kept that momentum up in the second game and came away with a good win. In the Fremont game, Sturgis was led by Juliette Schroeder with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Korin Whitcomb had 4 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Rylee Carver added 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. In the Jimtown win, Whitcomb had 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 blocks and 2 steals. Carver had 9 points and 4 rebounds while Schroeder had 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Emily Schuller had 2 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. Sturgis is now 3-4 on the season.
