(STURGIS) – The Sturgis softball team took on visiting Colon in their home opener, with the Lady Trojans sweeping the double header 10-3 and 14-9. Angela Cary had an inside the park home run in game one for Sturgis, then teammate Leah Yunker hit one a few innings later. Kelsey Burgess had an RBI double for the Lady Magi. Riley Northrop was the winning pitcher in game one for Sturgis going 7 innings and striking out 9 batters. The loss went to Andi Borgert. In game two, Cary started on the mound, going 2 1/3 innings with 3 strike outs. Madison Webb and Northrop also got some time on the hill, as they combined for 6 strikeouts. Yunker had 3 hits in the second game and Cary had 2 RBI. Colon got 2 RBI from Haven McClish.
