Centreville baseball tops Byron Center Zion in Regional semis
(DECATUR) – The Centreville baseball team took another step towards playing for a State Championship by beating Byron Center Zion 2-0 in a Division 4 Regional semifinal contest. The game was moved from Centreville H.S. to Decatur H.S. and back to 7 PM because of the threat of thunderstorms around Centreville. Matt Swanwick and Evan Blair combined to get the pitching win, allowing 5 hits on the day and striking out 10 betters in seven innings. Kobe Carpenter scored the first run of the game and had an RBI. Ben Truckenmiller had an RBI for the Bulldogs, who now will face Kalamazoo Hackett in a Regional championship game on Saturday. Hackett beat New Buffalo 15-5 in their Regional semi-final game.
