(STURGIS) – There will be a new coach for the Sturgis varsity girls basketball team for the 2024-2025 season. Andy Phillips has been hired as the new varsity girls coach. Phillipa graduated from Sturgis High School in 2002, and as a student-athlete played on three District title Sturgis boys varsity teams. He went on to play college basketball at Hope College. After graduating, Phillips returned to Sturgis where he has been a teacher and has coached boys basketball for 14 years. Phillips says he has a heart for player development and high expectations. He also thanks Coach Andy Hatt and Coach Jeremy Bucklin and others for laying the foundation for this program.
