(COLON) – The Sturgis girls basketball team started the 2024-2025 season with a non conference win over host Colon 64-24 in the debut of Andy Phillips as the new Lady Trojans head coach. Phillips says his team was aggressive on defense and on the glass, and shared the ball well. Core Phillips led Sturgis with 16 points. Sydney Bir added 15 points while Kennedy Finnerman had 13 points and Madison Webb had 10 points in the win. Colon was playing without Alli Vinson due to an illness. Leading the Lady Magi was Savannah Meyers with 9 points. Raegan Thaxton added 6 points and Lily Preston had 5 points. Ruby Bower had 4 points on the night.
